
Mathabo Rathebe works for the Ministry of Gender & Youth, Sport and Recreation, Lesotho as the Assistant Recreation Officer. Her main roles include implementing the ministry policies and assisting in the coordination of sport activities in the Districts/ communities through recreational events with different stakeholders. These stakeholders include the Lesotho National Olympic Committee, Lesotho Sport and Recreation Commission, National Federation and Associations, Sport and Recreation Officers, Lesotho Mounted Police Services, Crime Prevention Unit, coaches and Athletes.
Mathabo Rathebe has worked as the head of medical during the marathon and athletics championships. She also works as a National Podium Performance Coordinator for the same ministry. She has Implemented the Podium performance program model to individual sports codes such as chess, table tennis, darts, swimming and many more to help them prioritize and have specialized programs for their athletes. She has been able to offer guidance on provision of athletes’ support services that lead in boxing and taekwondo athletes performing better in the International events.
She is currently working with the Lesotho Sport and Recreation Commission where she helps in designing a selection policy for the National Federations. She loves sport and is a handball women goalkeeper coach.
